A selection of my Khlongtoey images made the final selection in the Projects & Portfolios selection of this prestigious international photography awards & exhibition, hosted in Trieste, Italy. Winners to be announced in October 2020 so watch this space, though to be honest I’m delighted to have got this far!

BANGKOK 101, MARCH 2020

A two-page interview with legendary Bangkok journalist Joe Cummings in the March 2020 issue of popular expat magazine Bangkok 101, focusing on my Faces of Khlongtoey project. “Many photographers have covered the colourful neighbourhood before” says Joe, “but Russell’s scenes and portraits bring out a character and soul that other shooters have, at least in my opinion, rarely achieved.”

SOUTHEAST ASIA GLOBE, FEBRUARY 2020

In my second photo essay for Southeast Asia Globe I featured some of my photos from Bangkok’s iconic Hualamphong Station as it begins winding down towards its eventual replacement by the brand new Bang Sue Terminal, due to open early next year.

ASIA PHOTO REVIEW, JANUARY 2020

In January 2020, Asia Photo Review picked my Khlongtoey project for their regular Editor’s Showcase feature, with a selection of B&W pics from the collection.

SOUTHEAST ASIA GLOBE, JANUARY 2020

SEA Globe is a website focusing on power, business and politics in Southeast Asia, so the perfect site for my photo essay about the possible clearance of Bangkok’s Khlongtoey ‘slum’ district. And it became the website’s most read article of the month.

WORD VIETNAM, JULY 2015

In May 2015 I travelled to Kazakhstan as the guest of a local tour operator, and was blown away by the incredible landscapes. A few weeks later I wrote this travel feature for Ho Chi Minh City-based expat magazine Word Vietnam.
