I’ve teamed up with the lovely folks at Photohostel & Cafe in Talad Noi to host a Street Portrait Workshop on Saturday 11 May! If you’re scared about taking people’s portraits on the street, don’t know how to get started, or are already an experienced street photographer who wants to improve, then this is the workshop for you.

The workshop will run from 09:00 until around 14:00, and will take place at Photocafe, a beautifully restored Chinese shophouse in the middle of Bangkok’s fascinating Talad Noi district We’ll be covering various topics during the programme, which will run as follows:

  • What is a Street Portrait?
  • Street Portrait Styles
  • Choosing Subjects
  • How to Approach Strangers, and Street Photography Etiquette
  • Eyes, Backgrounds & Other Composition Tips
  • Using Light
  • Environmental, Documentary & Storytelling Portraits
  • Equipment & Settings
  • Colour or B&W?
  • Street Photography Assignment
  • Review & Critique

All you need to bring is a camera, and your laptop for processing your images (as we’ll be sending you out shooting early in the afternoon!) and we’ll provide the rest, including bottled water and discounted drinks from the cafe.

The cost is just 2000BHT per person, and the maximum group size will be 8 people so you’ll get plenty of individual help and advice. To register, please complete the form below and we’ll get back to you with payment and joining details. Note, your place is only reserved once you’ve paid.
